In order to request library materials, make appointments to view special collections and archives materials, and to access the stacks, new users must attend an orientation. Research Center orientations are offered at 11:00 a.m. on the first Wednesday of the month. Complete this form to request a Google Calendar invitation.
The reading room is open 9-5 Monday through Friday to all AIC staff to pick up requested circulating materials, work with the open shelf reference collection or items on staff reserve, use scanning equipment, and return materials. The circulation desk is staffed 10-5 weekdays if you need assistance.
We invite our museum colleagues to use the Franke Reading Room as a quiet space for focused projects away from the bustle of the curatorial offices. Meetings may not be scheduled in the reading room. The front doors (next to the Grand Staircase) are always unlocked on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. If the front doors are locked, please use the staff entrance to the Research Center in the Photo & Media gallery 10 downstairs (next to the Thorne Rooms).
